Former DePauw Assistant Joins U. of Akron's Staff

April 20, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Lamont Paris, an assistant basketball coach at DePauw University from 1998-2000, has joined the University of Akron's head men's basketball program in the same capacity.

An announcement at the university's Web site states, "Paris, 30, comes to Akron following four seasons as the top assistant at Division-II Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). In 2002, he was part of the staff that directed IUP to the East Region crown, a trip to the Elite Eight and an eventual berth in the national semifinals while finishing with a 28-5 record, the second most wins in school history. Prior to coming to IUP, Paris spent two seasons each as an assistant coach at Wooster and DePauw."
