June 29, 2013

LGL 4076From Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26, DePauw University and Indiana’s 30 other private, non-profit colleges and universities are opening their doors to students, parents and any others interested in the college selection process. Indiana Private College Week is presented by the institutions in conjunction with Independent Colleges of Indiana, a non-profit association which is the collective voice for excellence and choice in higher education for all students.

Those visiting will get to experience firsthand the unique personality of each campus through tours, informational sessions and conversations with students and staff. A complete list of participating campuses, as well as event schedules and registration information, is available here. Individually-scheduled tours are offered, as well.LGL 4857

Although Indiana’s private colleges encourage and welcome visitors throughout the year, this concentrated week offers students an opportunity to visit multiple campuses in a short period of time and without missing school. According to research conducted by TargetX, 90 percent of high-school students interviewed about their college selection said, in essence, "I visited campus and it just felt right." The campus visit is a highly trusted source of information because a school’s description on paper finally comes to life.

"Students and families discover through visiting that Indiana private colleges are within reach, financially and otherwise," says Richard L. Ludwick, president & CEO of the Independent Colleges of Indiana. "ICI colleges and universities make millions of scholarship dollars available to students all four years, making top flight higher education a dream come true for tens of thousands of students. We want this week to be a gateway to discovering that dream realized."

Visitors between the ages of 16 and 20 touring ICI campuses during Private College Week will have the chance to enter a drawing for one of three Amazon Kindle Fires. Entry forms and rules will be available at each campus.
