Vernon Jordan '57 to Speak at DC's Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church

September 9, 2013

Vernon E. Jordan Jr. -- a civil rights leader, presidential adviser and 1957 graduate of DePauw University -- will be the featured speaker at the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., for its Men's Day.  The program will take place on September 22 at 10 a.m.

"The church, located few blocks from the White House at 1518 M Street NW, was founded in 1838," notes the Washington Informer. "President Barack Obama and the first family have worshiped twice at the Metropolitan, including the Sunday of his second inauguration. The event is one of several in a yearlong celebration of the historic church's 175th anniversary."
