Community Engaged Learning Programs

When you study off-campus, you’re not just an observer, you become part of the community but there are opportunities to increase your engagement. Getting involved in activities, either through your program or directly in the local community, is a great way to experience your local area in a different way, meet new people, learn from locals and gain skills and perspective to benefit you personally and professionally.

Many of the semester-long programs DePauw works with offer opportunities to engage in an intentional and mutually beneficial way with the local community. We’ve highlighted a few of these below.

It might be a volunteering opportunity with a local community group organized through your program, or a program which includes community engagement as part of the program, or a credit-bearing internship opportunity in a local non-profit. There are many ways to engage.
