DePauw Fraternity and Sorority Life Mission & Priorities

The following mission and priorities serve as the guiding principles in creating programming, education, and support for students.

The DePauw Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life Mission Statement:

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life firmly believes happy and healthy relationships are the foundation of a strong fraternity and sorority community. Through our GOLD Priorities, we aim to create a rich community for students to grow, learn, and thrive as they navigate their time at DePauw.

The DePauw Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Priorities:

  • Grow Stronger Relationships - The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life provides opportunities for students to create stronger and deeper relationships with their brothers, sisters, council members, and larger Greek population to build a rich community on DePauw’s campus. Through programming oriented towards building connection, students will learn to embrace accountability, curiosity, trust, and connection as a priority in forming true siblinghood.
  • Offer Meaning-Making Experiences - The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life creates opportunities for fraternity and sorority members to intentionally seek meaning from failures, successes, challenges, and triumphs. Through direct advising, mentorship, and various programming, we aim to create spaces that help students to grow on an individual and organizational level.
  • Lifelong Commitment to Learning - The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers co-curricular learning opportunities for students outside of the classroom. By seeking membership, students are setting the foundation for continued lifelong learning in concert with DePauw’s Liberal Arts tradition.
  • Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Communities - The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life embraces a resolute commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and empowers socially responsible leadership for fraternity and sorority members. Education offered by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority is focused on doing good for the greater community, recognizing and challenging inequities in society, identifying root causes of social and systemic issues, and taking action-oriented steps to continually improve inclusive practices.
