Concerts, Sports and Fun Crowd Parents Weekend Schedule

EAST COLLEGE BOULDER hdrSeptember 21, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw students, their parents, and members of the Greencastle community will a cornucopia of choices this Parents Weekend. Greencastle audiences also will have opportunities to see three free concerts over the weekend. On Saturday, September 22, there will be two concerts, the first being the annual Parents' Weekend Choir Concert at 11 a.m. in Kresge Auditorium presented by The DePauw Concert Choir and The Century Singers directed by Stanley Irwin. Then at 4:30 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall world-renowned percussionist Srinivas Krishnan brings his group, Global Rhythms, from Miami University to perform Global Rhythms Around the World, featuring classical instruments and dance from India.

The DePauw University Band with conductor Craig Paré will perform music by DePauw School of Music faculty member James A. Beckel, Jr. on Sunday, September 23, at 3 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Also on the program will be music by Ronald LoPresti, Henry Fillmore, and music from Mr. Holland's Opus written by Michael Kamen. All three concerts are free and open to the public. Also on the weekend schedule is a welcome from President Robert G. Bottoms, the ITA Central Region Small College Championships (at 5 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday), and competition in field hockey and men's and women's soccer.
