Internationally Noted Pianist to Perform Free Recital Sunday

September 25, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - On Sunday, September 30, at 3 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall there will be a guest artist recital featuring pianist Maria Stäblein, visiting assistant professor of piano at the University of Notre Dame. Stäblein has won prizes in several international piano competitions including first prize at the International Competition of the 33rd European Musicfestival in Neerpelt, Belgium. She has played numerous performances in Canada, the USA, Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, and has appeared at the renowned Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival, the Académie Maurice Ravel, and the Tage für Neue Musik Hannover.

The program she will present on Sunday will include préludes by Chopin and Scriabin. Ms. Stäblein will remain at DePauw for a piano master class on Monday, October 1, at 1 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall.

School of Music events are free and open to the public.
