Get the Content You Want at This Site with MyDePauw

March 11, 2003

March 11, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - What do you want your Web site to be? At DePauw.edu, you no longer have to wish, you can have it the way you like it. DePauw's Web team has launched MyDePauw, the configurable portal page. With a few clicks, MyDePauw allows you to determine what you want to appear on your screen when you log on, and where its located on the monitor. You can even choose the photo banner and the theme of your page. In all, there are 13 content areas, 7 themes, 20 photo banners for you to choose from.

"With more than 7,000 pages of content, DePauw.edu is a big site, and it's growing every day," says Web director Scott Cooper, noting the University's Web site now averages more than 7 million "hits" a month. "My DePauw facilitates browsing and allows visitors get to the information they want more efficiently. Some people may want the University calendar on their MyDePauw page, others may want the local weather forecast, still others will want both. There's a range of options and you're in control," Cooper says.

MyDePauw is optional and does not replace the University homepage. "You can bookmark or set MyDePauw as your browser's homepage, while still accessing the default DePauw homepage for other information," says Cooper, who adds the project is very much a "work in progress." Additional features in the future could include DePauw trivia, classified ads and photo galleries.

The Web director gives much of the credit for MyDePauw to Cedric Savarese, the newest member of the Web team. To access MyDePauw and bbegin building your personal page, click here. If you have questions, comments or suggestions about this new feature, send an e-mail by clicking here.
