1408 Drew Powell Cusack.jpgJune 22, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Drew Powell, a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, can be seen in 1408, the new feature film which stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson and opens today in theaters nationwide. Adapted from a short story by Stephen King, 1408 is called "creepy fun" by the Associated Press, while the Orlando Sentinel calls the film "a horror movie for people who read" in a four-star review.

Powell reports, "I play the assistant hotel manager [Samuel L. Jackson is the manager] at the Dolphin Hotel where the room 1408 is off limits. We shot the film in London with Mikael Hofstrom directing. I had a great time and, though I haven't seen the final cut, I know it will be a classic thriller that will keep people on the edge of their seats."

Powell, who was a Media Fellow at DePauw, says he is currently shooting another movie called Camp Hope which he describes as "kinda like Jesus Camp meets The Exorcist."

The DePauw alumnus appeared in the April 1 Drew Powell 2006.jpgepisode of the CBS series, Cold Case, and was recently featured in the motion picture, The Marine. Powell's other roles have included a featured part in the PAX show The Ponderosa, and he was a recurring character in the FOX series Malcolm in the Middle.
