Daniel Bretscher of Greencastle, Ind., is at least one," reports the Des Moines Register of the 2006 DePauw University graduate. "The 23-year-old had the best time of all the men's age groups in the amateur race at the Hy-Vee Triathlon on Sunday, winning $750."

"It's great for me because I'm trying to develop my career and I hope to race professionally within the next few years," Bretscher, whose time was 1:54.45, tells the newspaper. "This race was run so well ... and there was such a great crowd on the bike course and on the run course. I've never done a race with anywhere close to this amount of support." track runner clipart.jpg

The first-ever running of the triathlon "had about 1,700 entrants, a record for a first-year event," writes Brandon Cleaver.
