President Bottoms Elected to Joyce Foundation Board

October 11, 1994, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's eighteenth president, Robert G. Bottoms, has been elected to the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation. John Anderson, chair of the Foundation's board, describes Dr. Bottoms as an individual who has "demonstrated leadership ability ... [and] can add to our deliberations a rich and varied experience in several of our program areas."

The Joyce Foundation supports efforts to protect the natural environment of the Great Lakes, to reduce poverty and violence in the region, and to ensure that its people have access to good schools, decent jobs, and a diverse and thriving culture. It has 13 board members; Bottoms is one of three new directors.

President Bottoms also chairs the Great Lakes Colleges Association and is a member of the council of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
