Rob Johnson, news anchor at Chicago CBS affiliate WBBM-TV and 1990 graduate of DePauw University, "has written a book for young people that combines his love for hockey with a serious message about concussion injuries," notes media columnist Robert Feder. "Head in the Game, published by Outskirts Press, tells the fictional story of 10-year-old Timothy Trainor, a talented hockey player whose life changes unexpectedly. Johnson calls it 'a perfect stocking stuffer for your young athlete.'"

A synopsis of the book states, "Ten-year-old Timothy Trainor is a typical happy kid who loves his family and friends. He's lucky enough to have a special talent: he's a great hockey player, and he is close with his teammates on the Chelsea ThunderCats. But things change unexpectedly when a dirty hit to the head during a game gives him a concussion. All of a sudden, Timothy's future as a player is at stake as Timothy, his friends, and his family work through his recovery from an injury that happens all too often in youth sports, and which must be taken seriously. Timothy Trainor draws you into the vivid world of hockey, sending a strong message about how to play the game right, and giving realistic information about the increasingly serious issue of concussions."
