April 6, 2008

Green Center Dusk.jpgApril 6, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "Susan Anthony, associate professor of theatre at DePauw University and a performer, noted how dangerously 'catchy' the melodies of the songs were," notes the Terre Haute Tribune-Star in a report on St. Mary-of-the-Woods College's day-long Saturday program, "From Reconstruction to Ragtime: Images of African-Americans in the Arts." Anthony tells the newspaper, "There's a jauntiness to the music."

Brian M. Boyce writes that the sessions that spotlighted "forgotten music" focused on "race relations and popular culture during and after the reconstruction following America's Civil War."
