What makes your experience at DePauw Gold Within?

My Gold Within DePauw experience revolves around the endless (and super cool) opportunities DePauw has to offer to its students, especially within the School of Music. Overall, however, I think the true gold revolves around the phenomenal, passionate, dedicated and caring teachers, faculty and staff. For me, I wouldn’t be anywhere near who I am today without them. They are the ones who make it all happen – none of the relationships, opportunities, events and guidance that make DePauw stand out would exist if it weren’t for them. To me, they truly are the Gold in our "Black and Gold."
What does being a 21st Century Musician mean to you?
Being a 21st Century Musician to me means understanding the music world in greater depth – that there are so many ways in which we can be financially self-sufficient working artists and musicians. It’s about unlearning the idea that there is only one path to being a musician and discovering what we can and want to do with our own unique skills, passions and talents.
Other Opportunities from the DePauw Experience: I got to be a part of, as well as watch, some really awesome master classes with renowned guest artists. I was accepted to Aspen Summer Music Festival for the summer of 2020, studied in Italy with the famous soprano Edda Moser in the summer of 2019, and performed with the New York Lyric Opera Theater during the summer of 2018.
