Rex Call is 'Athletic Trainer of the Year'

July 8, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - Rex A. Call, head athletic trainer and assistant professor of health and physical performance at DePauw University, has been named 2002 Athletic Trainer of the Year at the University level by the Indiana Athletic Trainers' Association (IATA). Call will receive his award at the IATA's Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet July 12th, 2002.

Rex Call is a graduate of Ball State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and health. He also completed his Master of Science in physical education with specialization in athletic training at the University of Arizona. Additional Post Graduate work was completed at the University of Pittsburgh. Call has been with DePauw University since 1989.

To qualify for the award, which is presented annually, the nominee must have worked a minimum of five years at an Indiana institution and be active in advancing the profession of athletic training and sports medicine. Only an IATA certified member may nominate an athletic trainer for this award.

The IATA has over 400 ATC/L members and 90 student members statewide and is part of the national organization, NATA, which is based in Dallas, Texas. The IATA's mission is to enhance the quality of health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity, and to advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries.
