Screenwriter of Barbershop to Speak Sunday Night

February 19, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - Don D. Scott, co-writer of the hit movie Barbershop, will speak on the DePauw University campus Sunday, February 23, immediately following a showing of the film, which begins at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the Memorial Student Union Building. Both the film and speech are free and open to the public.

Scott sold his first script, Down with Noah, to Warner Brothers in 1998. He's recently contributed to the screenplays for the upcoming feature films Charlie's Angels 2 and If You Were My Girl, is writing an action comedy for Universal Pictures which will star Method Man and Redman, and is working on the sequel to Barbershop.

Don D. Scott began his career as a sound assistant, wrote video games for Sega, then participated in the Disney Writing Fellowship for two years, which led to his screenwriting career.

Called a "sweet, life-affirming movie" by the New York Daily News and "a comedy with appeal for any audience" by the Associated Press, Barbershop grossed more than $75 million at the box office.
