January 9, 2006

January 9, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's partnership with the Posse Foundation is noted in a story in Virginia's Rockbridge Weekly. The article previews a January 19 speech at Washington and Lee University by Deborah Bial, president and founder of the Posse Foundation. She will present the school's annual Founders' Day program.

"The Posse Foundation, a youth leadership development and college access organization that sends teams of students from diverse backgrounds to selective colleges and universities throughout the United States," states the newspaper. "Posse Scholars come from urban pubic high schools, attend highly selective colleges, and are persisting and graduating at a rate of over 90 percent."

The text lists DePauw among the Posse partners and points out that Bial received an honorary degree from the University.
