Jon Fortt '98 Introduced as CNBC's New Technology Correspondent

Jon Fortt 2010a.jpgJuly 8, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Jon Fortt, a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, "is joining CNBC as its San Jose-based technology correspondent," reports the San Jose Mercury News. "Fortt, most recently a senior tech writer for Fortune magazine, was a reporter and editor at the Mercury News from 1999 to 2006, where he covered the tech industry and education, and also helped develop a blog and podcast network." Fortt also served as a senior editor at Business 2.0 magazine.

"Technology is the critical engine of the global economy, and Jon knows its various parts better than just about any journalist," says Nikhil Deogun, managing editor of CNBC's Business Day programming. "His insight and analysis will immediately add value to CNBC's viewers and users."

Fortt, who will begin his new assignment on July 19, states, "I'm excited to join the top-notch team of journalists at CNBC. The technology landscape shifts constantly, and no organization is better positioned to break news and explain why it matters."cnbc_logo.jpg

The network's announcement today notes that Fortt was an English (writing) major and Media Fellow at DePauw.
