Two DePauw Seniors Receive Orr Fellowships

April 7, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Two DePauw University seniors -- Allison Clem and David Simons -- are among eleven college soon-to-be-graduates from five Indiana universities who will spend the next two years working for some of the state's leading entrepreneurial companies, thanks to the Governor Bob Orr Indiana Entrepreneurial Fellowship. Since its inception in 2001, the Orr Fellowship has fulfilled its mission to keep Indiana's best and brightest graduates in the state by placing 45 fellows at sponsoring Indiana companies. In the past five years, eight DePauw University graduates have been invited to join this prestigious statewide program.

Clem, a political science major and Management Fellow at DePauw, has accepted a position with ExactTarget in Indianapolis. David Simons, an economics major, accepted a position with AuthorHouse in Bloomington, Ind.

"The Orr Fellowship places you in an environment where you can make a significant impact across many divisions of the company," Simons is quoted in a news release. "Coupled with the ability to network with both peers in the program and Indiana business leaders, it is an invaluable opportunity."

The 2006 Orr Fellows were recently selected at Finalist Day, when five months of statewide recruiting efforts culminated as company executives conducted final interviews. Candidates were selected based upon superior academic performance, extracurricular involvement, demonstrated leadership potential, and previous job experiences. Through salaried positions at their sponsoring companies, Orr Fellows will complete challenging projects and work closely with company executives. In addition, they will attend monthly meetings with Indiana's most accomplished business leaders and participate in various philanthropic events and educational seminars through their participation in this two-year program.
