Jerry Williams '54 Inducted Into Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame

Jerry Williams 1997.jpgMarch 20, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Jerry L. Williams, a 1954 graduate of DePauw University, is among the 2008 inductees into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame. Williams, now retired, was founder and owner of Williams Securities Group, which later merged with Robert W. Baird Inc. in Tampa. He is one of seven new members who were inducted March 13 at a ceremony at the Marriott Waterside hotel in downtown Tampa.

According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, "nominees were evaluated on their business successes, community contributions and reputations for solid business ethics as well as high moral principles ... To be considered, nominees must have lived and or worked in the six-county Tampa Bay region that includes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, Manatee, Pasco and Polk counties; have made significant contributions to their industries; display a sustained performance in their industry; be a business owner or top-level executive; participate in the east college holton.jpgTampa Bay community, and reflect diverse genders and cultures."

The Journal adds, "The inductees were selected from a short list of 23 nominees. They join 137 past members named annually since the inaugural year in 1988."
