Tamara Beauboeuf offers courses in the sociology of education, women and education, girls’ and women’s lifespan development, and feminist inquiry. Her published work has examined teachers’ negotiations of race and gender in their identities and pedagogy, and the embodiment of feminine standards of goodness. The latter is was investigated in her book, Behind the Mask of the Strong Black Woman: Voice and the embodiment of a costly performance.
She is now working on a new book about the history of women in higher education.
